Vacuum Cleaner Bags, What You Need To Know.

All right, we’ve all needed to replace our vacuum cleaner bags at the last minute and don’t have any. What a mess! You know what I’m saying, you’ve got to clean your carpet before your important guests arrive, like your mother-in-law, your boyfriend or girlfriend, work associates, or worse yet, your boss, and your vacuum cleaner is not picking up any dirt or trash. You open the bag compartment and find that it’s full…. don’t panic, there are two things you’ve got to do. First, solve the immediate problem before your boss arrives, and next, get some more bags.  Let’s solve your cleaning supplies issue!

To solve the immediate dilemma, this is what you do. Remove the bag by opening the bag compartment; remove the vacuum cleaner bag from the pipe it’s attached to. You might need to loosen a clamp, first. Take the bag off. Write down what kind of bag it is (the manufacturer), this bag will have a specific number and size, write down everything you see on it that might be used to describe it. This is very important, measure the diameter of the hole where the pipe enters your bag! If you plan to go buy a replacement bag at the store you need to know this. Then go to your trash can and start emptying it. Hey, this is what you’ve got to do! You need to reuse-recycle your bag, at least for the short term so you can get your carpet cleaned before your guests arrive. Most bags are made quite durable; remember it has to withstand all the pennies, pins, and other stuff that gets thrown into it at a high velocity, right? So it is made to be re-used. Most people don’t like to do this because it’s messy, but in a pinch, it will work. Attach the empty onto the pipe in the cleaner bag compartment and get your vacuuming job done.

Once you’re all finished vacuuming, and you need to replace your bag stash, you’ve got a couple options. You can order the bag online, or head down to the store and see if they have your type. If you plan to search online, search for the brand of vacuum you have, like Hoover. The manufacturer’s website will sell your specific model’s vacuum cleaner bag so you don’t have worry about whether or not it will fit. Order a few extra so you don’t find yourself in the mess anytime soon and you’re good to go. If you plan to head down to the store, remember that many bags will fit more than one model of vacuum. This is important, what really matters the most on whether or not a replacement bag will work is the size of the orifice hole that goes around the pipe in your vacuum cleaner bag compartment. You need to measure the size of this hole, is it 1.5 inches, 2.0 inches, 2.5 inches? This is important, you don’t want to get to the store and buy the wrong bag, that’s just a waste of time and is super annoying. Go to your local super store like Walmart, or Target, and some grocers, and search through their floor cleaning supplies section for the vacuum cleaner bag inventory. If you find one with the right hole size, and an approximated length, you will be good to go. Head home and relax. Job done.
