Remove The Mold In The Caulk Between Your Tub And Shower
Categorized: House Cleaning Supplies | No comments
Getting rid of the black moldy spots in the caulk sealant between your tub and the base of your shower tile can be quite difficult. The mold grows in the areas where the caulk is separating from the surface of the bathtub and wall and the only right way to correct this is to remove the caulk with a razorblade knife and re-caulk it; however this can be difficult for the average home owner and if not done correctly can lead to further repairs and frustration. This post is to explain how you can kill the mold and return your caulk back to white so that it is not noticeable. This is a temporary fix and will need to be re-done a couple times each year, but it will work and bring your shower back to looking great.
This is the technique. Take a paper towel and fold it into ½ inch strips. Place the strips over the moldy caulk and pour enough bleach on the paper towel strip to completely soak it. Let the soaked strip sit on the caulk for about 20 minutes. Remove the strips and thoroughly rinse the caulk. The mold will be killed and removed from the caulk. Your caulk will be white again and your shower will look great.
